What’s collected
- A random per-install UUID (generated locally; never tied to your Steam account)
- Game version and OS family (Windows / macOS / Linux)
- Session start and end times
- Which progression milestones you reach (e.g. first dive, first boss kill) and when
−
What’s not collected
- Names, email addresses, Steam IDs, or any account identifiers
- Your IP address (Cloudflare receives it but our Worker never reads or logs it)
- Save file contents, purchase history, screen recordings, or chat
Why
Steam tells us 88 people own TideWane and the median session is 22 minutes. It does not tell us where in those 22 minutes people quit. Anonymous milestone data lets us answer that without surveying anyone individually.
How long it’s kept
Raw rows are deleted automatically after 90 days. We keep aggregate counts (e.g. total installs per day, count of players who reached each milestone) longer — they have no install identifiers attached.
How to opt out
In-game: Settings → Privacy → toggle Share anonymous gameplay data off. The change takes effect immediately.
To erase data already uploaded, click Delete my remote data on the same screen.
